Shalom Circles

Building Collective Strength Through Local Leadership

Every Vermont community is different, and no one knows your town or school district better than you do. Shalom Circles are a way for Jewish Vermonters and allies to build strength from within, community by community. They are small, intentional gatherings of locals who come together to speak honestly about antisemitism, support one another, and organize when something needs to be addressed locally.

Shalom Alliance is here to help set up and support each Circle, but we follow the lead of the group when it comes to purpose, scope, and how the conversations take shape. Our support can include host toolkits, sample agendas, issue explainers, talking points, and organizing materials. We can also provide speakers, facilitators, or behind-the-scenes help preparing for a public response. Whether your group wants light structure or more hands-on support, we are here to support your vision.

Form

The format is flexible. A host invites a small group of trusted people and together they decide how and when to meet in an ongoing fashion and what issues they hope to address. This work begins in quiet, trusted spaces where people speak clearly about what they’re experiencing and decide how to act together. Shalom Circles create that space.
